Anxiously Awaiting Delivery

So, apart from being a bit of a Warhammer 40k Geek, my Hubby spends a small amount of his spare time playing rugby, and a considerably lager proportion of this spare time coaching an Under 7's Rugby Team, which he absolutely loves.
My 7 year old son also loves playing, and  is part of said rugby team coached by the Hubby.  Therefore, I have sort of found myself being swept along into the rugby world, and have become a little bit of a Rugby Mum.  Not that I'm complaining though - I've found I actually do love  it.  The boys on my son's team are such a lovely group of kids, and to be honest, going to watch an adults game, well, there are worse things to be watching than a group of men running around in shorts.  ;)

Anyway...this "life of rugby" ties into my blog title because, as part of The Husband's coaching/player duties, we have a Sportsman's Dinner to attend in two weeks time and it is the outfit for this that I am "Anxiously Awaiting Delivery" for.   It has caused me no end of stress and deliberation and the postie needs to just hurry up and deliver it already!!

Having never attended such an event I have absolutely no idea of what is expected in an outfit.  The invite states "Black Tie"... but we have to be there ("there" being The Bradford Bulls Stadium) from 5pm to watch a rugby match, before sitting down to a meal at 8pm... I mean just how "Black Tie" do you go to watch a game of rugby?!

Needless to say, I have spent hours (and I mean HOURS!!) scouring the internet for a dress that wasn't too formal. yet not too casual, wasn't too short or too low cut - S-T-R-E-S-S!!

But I think (fingers crossed) I have it sorted....

.... although finding these exact shoes may prove an issue, as my size (6) appears to have sold out on line and in every store from Manchester to Liverpool and beyond, but you get the idea.

Now, just come on Mr Delivery Man....

  1. If you've still got two weeks to go I'd say you were ahead of the game - I wouldn't even be thinking about choosing/ordering for another week yet! (Because I'm useless and very disorganised!)
