I've finally succumbed after months and months of watching from the sidelines, wondering "what" and "if" and "should I?".
I've gone and done it.
I've finally become a subscription box subscriber and my first ever Birchbox landed through my door earlier this week.
I must admit though, because I love a bargain and had previously thought receiving things I may not like through the post was too much of a money-wasting gamble, the only thing that actually swayed my hand and caused me to sign up was a fab deal on Livingsocial.
I paid £30 for a six month subscription just to trial it out...I mean for £5 per box, I kind of just had to give them a whirl didn't I.
Obviously, being my first ever box I wasn't quite sure what to expect and I thought that this holiday-travel edition was OK - it made me really want to be jetting off somewhere warm and sunny that's for sure.
What did I find inside?
Well, let me tell you.
I found two teeny 3ml tubes of Supergoop! CC cream -
- which would be perfect for a hot beach holiday when the last thing you need or want is a face full of make up.
This is a light, self-adjusting-shade base complete with SPF 35 - perfect for just a little bit of sunshine ready coverage.
I initially thought that this light-medium shade was going to be way too light for my skin tone and was really quite disappointed
I rubbed it into my hand a little and just carried on with what I was doing, but when I looked back at my hand I was pleasantly surprised to see that the CC cream had actually adjusted, and was almost a perfect match for me
Next up, I found a NUDE's ProGenius Omega Treatment Oil 5ml sample
Now this, with it's ten hydrating, smoothing and nourishing plant oils sounds like something my skin could really love.
I've recently discovered the benefits of using facial oils and serums as well as moisturisers and I can't wait to give this one a real try.
Something else I can't wait to get stuck into is the 30ml bottle of Number 4's Super Comb Prep & Protect leave-in conditioner spray
Anyone who knows me will know that any product that swears to improve any part of my huge hair is a total winner.
This bottle will probobly only last one wash and style of my hair - yep, it's really that thick - but I'm looking forward to trying out it's frizz taming capabilities the next time I do wash my hair...
...which will be...well...soon...
Then, finding this cute mirrored compact containing a Wild About Beauty Creme Eyeshadow in "Matilda" (cute name!) pleased me no end.
I wear eyeshadow everyday and tend to pick subtle, understated, natural shades, so this dark brown is a brilliant match for me.
Pretty packaging is always a winner too.
I'm usually slightly fussy when it comes to perfume fragrances too - I don't like anything floral and much prefer fruity or slightly musky scents.
This 2ml sample of Liaison De Parfum in I Dare You is slightly musky and I really like it - especially once it has had a little time to settle and isn't as overpowering as when first applied
...but maybe I don't like it enough to pay the £105 full sized bottle retail price though...
And that's the lot.
The products were all delivered in a cute little see through travel bag, which will come in very handy, and were accompanied with a beach-ready, pint-sized paperback copy of the first chapter of The Proposal by Tasmina Perry
It's a sure-fire way to get me to buy a book Birchbox - just send me the first chapter...I can't resist a good read.
I wonder what next month will bring...
