Take Me Back To Cyprus If You Please...

I feel the need to be a teeny bit sad today.

~ I need a holiday...

~ I really want a holiday...

And do you know what I had to do recently?

I had to cancel a lovely UK staycation holiday we had booked, one we were looking forward to and we actually couldn't wait to go on.

Sometimes that money tree in my garden really does need to start showing us a little bit of spendable paper.

* sigh *

Anyway, all that this rubbish situation has done is make me think even more about holidays - in particular of hot, sunny, jetting-off kind of holidays and what makes me even more sad is something I think I have mentioned before - our last abroad break was a whole five years ago now...I think I'm due a little sunshine soon.

Five years ago we headed off on a Cyprus Holiday - Charlie was six and was so excited about getting on a plane for the first time - way too excited to hold his panic-stricken Mum's had on take-off anyway.

He was a natural and loved every second of the experience - the plane, the airports - it was a huge novelty for him and something he is so eager to experience again.

Our destination was recommended by a friend and I actually booked the holiday on a total whim whilst she was still there with her family
(it's all about the recommendations you see)

And when we arrived it couldn't have been any more perfect.

The hotel was beautiful and clean with amazingly stunning views...

The food was plentiful and the snacks seemed to be never ending...

We had various amazing pools to choose from...

An amazing beach literally two steps outside of our hotel gate...

It was brilliant.

The only downside - there were about a zillion wasps to contend with (urgh) and the heat was just something else...which actually wasn't a negative really, only it stopped us heading out of the complex and exploring any of the island because it really was hot...not that we wanted to do that anyway (we aren't the type of family who do sight-seeing all that well) so we were happy soaking up the sun, poolside.

As fussy a travel goer as I can be - I like to know things will be clean and safe before I head off anywhere - I loved my time in Cyprus - it was amazing and I would love nothing more than to venture there again - perhaps making an exception for once and maybe heading off for a few hours to take in some of the incredible sights.

The all-inclusive option worked so well for us, it meant Charlie could have what he wanted, more or less when he wanted it, without us having to worry about (or mess about carrying) money.

I think Willow would love her first taste of the real sunshine spent on a beautiful Cypriot beach...

* sigh *

...oh how I wish - but who am I kidding eh, we couldn't even manage a UK beach trip this Summer...

Hopefully we'll see you again soon Cyprus...hopefully...
